Heritage Project Contracts is an accredited conservation company that works within the construction arena. Will Jones helped set up the company in early 2012, and it has since delivered conservation and restoration projects for main contractors, local authorities, museums, heritage trusts and private clients across the UK.

We can assist construction companies in fulfilling obligations imposed by local authorities relating to listed building consents and planning restrictions tied into works on historic buildings and structures, and we have been involved in a number of projects involving the restoration of historic buildings and their conversion to new, and often innovative, uses.

We pride ourselves on being able to establish very good working relationships with construction companies of varying sizes, such that we are approached about future projects at an early stage. This often takes the heritage pressure off contractors, because we can undertake a full service of developing conservation and restoration proposals, liaising with heritage organisations and implementing the works on site, ensuring that heritage elements do not become obstacles in the contractor's path.

Our own specialist workshop in Shropshire allows large and fragile items to be taken off site for assessment, cleaning, repair, replication and finishing, and returned when the main works are ready for them.

This is often a question of balancing what is best for the heritage against a client's expectations and the funding available, and we pride ourselves on maintaining good working relationships with every client.

We have the ability to develop cost effective and often innovative solutions to conservation problems by drawing on a wide range of in house skills. We have also developed good working relationships with a wide range of external specialists whose expertise can be called upon when required.

Will Jones

Day to day operation of the business

Will Jones oversees the day to day operation of the business. Having originally completed an apprenticeship in the motor vehicle industry, he moved into the construction industry, where he built on his original practical skills as well as developing those needed to run a business. He helped set up Heritage Project Contracts in early 2012. He is now an experienced heritage project manager, able to deliver high quality conservation services to clients, contractors and local authorities. His key skill is developing and managing delivery teams on projects undertaking conservation and restoration services to agreed quality standards while maintaining programme requirements. Working with key clients across the UK, Will has completed conservation projects for many prestigious clients.

Richard Baister

PACR Accredited Conservator and Project Manager (APM)

Richard Baister is a PACR Accredited Conservator and an experienced Project Manager (APM) with a wealth of knowledge of complex heritage projects. Working on a significant number of major projects across the UK, he has delivered innovative heritage solutions that both respect the cultural heritage and meet clients' requirements of programme, cost and quality. His key skills are engaging with a client's aspirations, developing solutions that can be delivered by the project team, and reducing the risk inherent in heritage projects.

Peter Meehan

ICON Accredited Conservator, consultant

Peter Meehan is an accredited conservator of ICON (the Institute of Conservation) and works with Heritage Project Contracts as a consultant. Peter has over 30 years of experience in the heritage sector, both public and private. His key skills include assessing object conditions and developing appropriate conservation solutions, detailing treatment specifications, preparing costings and finalising conservation reports. Peter has particular experience of working with historic metals and has been involved in many high profile conservation projects across the UK.

Keith Duckett

Workshop

Keith is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Heritage Project Contracts workshop. He has a wealth of practical experience from working over many years on both construction and restoration sites, and has used these skills to manage the flow of conservation works through an often busy workshop. Recent projects include the regeneration works to Alexandra Park, the refurbishment works to Manchester Library and the conservation of numerous heritage pieces from Oldham Town Hall.

Consultancy through Heritage Project Management

Through a link to our sister company, Heritage Project Management, we offer a wide range of consultancy services using in house expertise and that of selected external specialists. The two companies can act in partnership to see a project through from its earliest development stages to completion on site.

Heritage Project Management provides a management service to local authorities, private developers, museums, heritage trusts and private clients. The importance of the heritage assets is placed at the centre of the project, so they are safeguarded and their specific heritage needs are built into the project works. Working across the UK, it undertakes a range of services from initial project advice and project planning through to the management of heritage works on site.
